28/08/2023, For candidates whose GST Registration applications have been indicated for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication
Dear Users/Consumers,
- Rule 8 of the CGST Rules has been modified to state that applicants who have chosen to have their Aadhaar number authenticated and who have been identified on the common portal will be scheduled for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication and photo(s) of the applicant based on data analysis and risk parameters.
- The GSTN site is prepared to roll out the functionality and the pilot for the aforementioned change. Starting on August 30, 2023, this feature will be made available in Puducherry as a test project. In order to complete the registration process, the applicant will either receive a message encouraging them to visit a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) after submitting their application in Form GST REG-01 and prior to the generation of an application reference number (ARN). This message or link will depend on the TRN stage and the applicant’s identification by the common portal.
- Those applicants who receive the link for Aadhaar authentication on their mobile or email ID can continue to complete their applications in accordance with the current implementation.
- Nevertheless, applicants who get a message instructing them to visit GSK must do so in order to obtain biometric authentication for all necessary individuals in accordance with GST Application Form REG-01. For the biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication process, the candidates are urged to go to GSK before the TRN expiry date specified in the email. In this instance, Application Reference Number (ARN) generation won’t begin until the biometric-based Aadhaar authentication process is complete.
- The administration in your state would advise GSK’s operating days.
Thank You,
